The espectacular and unique landscape of this region retraces mankind's history from the most remote times: cave paintings, dolmens, medieval castles and churches, romanesque bridges, centuries old paths, etc., are permanent witnesses of his presence.

In the municipality of Bierge are located the towns of Las Almunias de Rodellar, Rodellar, Morrano, Pedruel, Yaso, San Román, Otín, San Saturnino, Nasarre, Letosa, Pardina de Ballabriga, San Póliz, Cheto and Pardina de Villanúa. Travelling through the area, you will discover magnificent contrasts in a landscape full of a rich cultural and architectonic heritage.


The origin of the town of Bierge was on the Monte Cascallo were once stood a castle of which only ruins remain today. The XVIth century parish church is dedicated to the Apostle James. Of Aragon gothic style, it was built onto the ruins of more ancient romanesque walls. Most notable are the portada's renaissance decoration and the gallery of semi-circular brick arches.
The XIIIth century Hermitage of San Fructuoso (Saint Fructuosus)is famous for its mural paintings of gothic lineal style in which dominate sharp and bright colours (white, red and blue) of stylized elegant figures, drawn with graceful rythm.
