While in the mountains forests of oak and pines dominate, in the lower part of the Region fertile earth abound, that have given rise to more than 4000Has. of vineyard from which is extracted the grapes used in the famous broths that for 15 years now have been competing with the rest of Spain's Denominations of Origin. The most famous caves can be visited and offer tastings of their products.

The Somontano produces excellent quality wines, result of a suitable sun and rain combination, a generous earth, centuries of tradition and the most modern technologies

Winegrowing which started in Roman times, carried on steadily through the medieval monasteries and has further developped during modern times. In fact, the territory was so specialized in wine, that its elaboration even conditionned the structure and distribution of the typical Somontano vintage. El cultivo del viñedo tiene su origen en la época romana, se mantuvo con los monasterios medievales y se afianzó en época moderna. Hasta tal punto se especializó el territorio, que la elaboración de vinos llegaría incluso a condicionar la estructura y distribución de la casa típica del Somontano.
